About the Client
Vodafone is a global telecommunications business based in the UK and across Europe, with technical teams working across languages, locations and disciplines. Supporting those teams requires clear training materials and accessible internal resources, delivered within the security, technical and brand requirements of a large international organisation.
Tektonic worked with Vodafone on multilingual eLearning and two intranet projects, bringing together bespoke development, technical animation and interface design with the coordination needed to deliver within a tightly controlled corporate environment.
What the Client Needed
Vodafone needed a digital partner capable of getting to grips with complex technical content and delivering it within exacting corporate standards. The work called for more than design and development: it required security approval to work on internal networks, close collaboration with stakeholders across different levels of the organisation and careful adherence to Vodafone’s global brand guidelines.
For its engineer technology training, Vodafone needed an extensive eLearning package that made detailed subject matter clear and accessible. The scope covered four hours of learning content in four languages, combining educational text, technical animations, voice-over and assessment tests throughout the courses. Each element needed to work together as a coherent learning experience, with consistent presentation across the language versions.
Tektonic handled the design and build of the digital learning package, including the creation of technical animations and the integration of multilingual content and voice-over. SCORM-compliant assessments were incorporated throughout, allowing learners’ understanding to be tested as they progressed. The challenge was to bring substantial amounts of technical material together in a format that supported learning while meeting the requirements of Vodafone’s training environment.
Alongside the eLearning work, Vodafone commissioned two intranet projects using Atlassian Confluence. These provided an internal platform for employees to access learning materials and resources. Confluence was a client requirement, so we learned the platform and worked within its capabilities to design and implement the portals around Vodafone’s brief.
Working on Vodafone’s internal networks also meant completing the required security approval process and operating within the controls set for the projects. Strict brand compliance ran through every part of the work, requiring close attention to both the overall design and the detail of its implementation.
Delivery depended on clear project management and coordination with stakeholders at several levels within Vodafone’s departments. We worked through detailed briefs, technical requirements and feedback to keep the different elements aligned, from individual learning screens and animations to the structure of the intranet resources.
These projects brought together many of the things Tektonic does best: understanding unfamiliar requirements, working through technical detail and making complex information easier to use. For Vodafone, that meant a team able to adapt to its chosen platforms, meet demanding standards and deliver substantial digital learning and internal communications projects within the framework of a global business.
